This hip spot is the first sake brew-pub outside Japan and Minneapolis’ only sake brewery!
moto-i Ramen and Sake House in Lyn-Lake is no stranger to uniqueness. After all, it’s the first sake brew-pub to open up outside Japan, Minneapolis’ only craft sake brewery, and a purveyor of the unique Tokyo-style straight-noodle ramen. On top of it all, it has a rooftop patio has skyline views and streams sumo tournaments.
First and foremost, moto-i’s sake is hyper-local. In fact, it’s brewed on-site. They serve namazake, or unpasteurized sake, on draft alongside a range of pan-Asian small plates. In-house sake highlights include the melon and mushroom-flavored Mioko, the umami-heavy Tokoloshe, and the Hot Junmai Nama. moto-i’s craft cocktails seamlessly incorporate this home-brewed sake. Highlights include the glittering Fujiyama Mama with Luxardo, lemongrass shochu, citrus, and prosecco and a sake-spiked Bloody Mary with dill aquavit, red miso, togorashi, and nori.
On the food side, moto-i serves up ramen with Tokyo straight-style noodles in a variety of flavors from red coconut curry beef to brothless maitake mushrooms. In addition, they have a selection of snack-ready small plates, steamed buns, noodle bowls, and rice bowls. A special brunch menu is available on weekends between 11am and 2pm with breakfasty spins on the typical offerings.
Currently, the rooftop patio is open from 4pm to 9pm for walk-in seating only. Carryout is available from noon to 9pm every day. Drinks, including bottles of sake, sake cocktail kits, and local beers, are also available for carryout. Check out their Facebook page for updates and special events!
