Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral: A Nod to Gothic Architecture
Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral is one of two Episcopal churches that are still active in Minneapolis. Drawing inspiration from Gothic architecture, American architect Edwin Hawley Hewitt designed the cathedral that we see today back in 1910. The venue’s rib-vaulted ceiling pattern and pointed arches are perhaps the cathedral’s most impressive features, closely followed by the enormous stained glass windows that can be found at either end of the large church hall. It’s difficult to find a venue as intimate as this one for a magical Candlelight concert in Minneapolis.
Granada Theater: Bringing The Night Sky Inside
Once used as a movie theater that screened hundreds of silent movies released in the 1920s, Granada Theater now hosts this series of enchanting Candlelight concerts in addition to birthday celebrations and other special occasions. The venue is home to one of the few remaining atmospheric auditoriums in Minneapolis and gives visitors the chance to enjoy live music under a midnight-blue ceiling covered in artificial twinkling stars. Once you’re seated, you’ll notice how the sparkling lights from above combine with the warm glow of hundreds of candles to create a soothing ambiance perfect to enjoy an evening of live music in.
St Paul Athletic Club: A Clubhouse with Style
Inspired by the English Renaissance style of the 16th century, Allen Stem first designed St Paul Athletic Club in 1917. The architect drew up his plans with the intention of creating the perfect meeting spot for locals to gather and enjoy the clubhouse’s many amenities including a bowling alley, billiard room and squash courts. Fitted with three dazzling chandeliers and ornate paneling, the venue’s Grand Ballroom makes for the perfect setting to enjoy these remarkable concerts by Candlelight in.
The Westminster Presbyterian Sanctuary: A Historic Minneapolis Gem
Located in downtown Minneapolis, The Westminster Presbyterian Sanctuary has been an important pillar of community for locals since it was first established in 1897. Both the church’s magnificent rose window and enormous skylight are original features of the building that have been appreciated by hundreds of thousands of visitors over the years. Candlelight invites you to see how this magnificent venue lights up with the glow of hundreds of flickering candles while enjoying these mesmerizing concerts taking place in one of Minneapolis’ most beautiful settings.
Calvary Church: A Timeless Relic in Whittier
Calvary Church has served the residents of the Whittier neighborhood ever since its construction in 1883. Reminiscent of a child’s favorite fantasy movie, the church’s tall tower covered in lush greenery overlooks the bars and restaurants that sit along Blaisdell Avenue. On entering Calvary Church, you’re likely to notice the grand pipe organ that takes center stage in this incredible setting surrounded by multiple stained glass windows. Listen to the moving melodies of classical music while seated in this magnificent venue as it bathes in flickering candlelight.
With so many fabulous musical performances to choose from, you are sure to find a Candlelight concert that suits your music taste. These concerts have been met by countless 5-star reviews, and guests have called it an “extremely intimate experience.”
