CATAN’s 6th edition keeps all the core gameplay we know and love, it’s just been given a bit of a revamp. The rulebook now features helpful images and examples, making it easier than ever to get the hang of. Plus, the new artwork brings new life to everything from the packaging to the game pieces.
1. Gamezenter
Got a big team of friends who’re ready to settle in for a CATAN session? Gamezenter in Roseville has more than enough space to accommodate. With seating for over 150 players, you can bring a whole crew with you. And if, like a serious boardgamer, you’re not willing to leave things up to chance, you can even reserve tables ahead of time to make sure you’ve claimed your spot long before the dice start rolling.

2. Foxden
Founded by two board game-loving friends, this cozy cafe has a whole library of games for you to delve into. As any seasoned CATAN players will know, strategizing over a board can really work up an appetite – and luckily Foxden has an espresso bar and cafe, stocked with locally sourced baked goods and deli items. And if your quest to conquer CATAN turns into an epic saga, don’t worry – the cafe stays open until 11pm every night, giving you all the time you need to play it out.

3. The Battleground Cafe
Last but not least in our board game cafe trifecta is Battlegrounds, with a name that perfectly sets the tone for the kind of high-stakes gaming that happens there. With plenty of large tables and long benches to spread out on, it’s a great place to spend the day bartering and trading your resources in a game of CATAN. But don’t worry—you won’t have to survive on wheat alone.
